MAY 2024

Hello PNP Community! 5/2/2024

As you know we are always honest with and informative with all out clients about what is happening at PNP, therefore we are sad to let you know that we unfortunately have confirmed cases of kennel cough and one case of pneumonia that was brought to our attention. This means PNP staff have moved to our more intensive cleaning protocol using the product "Rescue" that is more targeted to virus till we have no more incoming cases.

If your pet has been to daycare in the last 2 weeks be extra cautious, symptoms may take 2-14 days to become presentable.

If you notice your pup has ANY coughing, sneezing, excessive tiredness, or odd breathing please keep them home for 10-14 days or THE BEST solution would be to contact your vet!

*Please understand, if PNP staff notice your pup coughing AT ALL upon intake or while here they will be separated from all the dogs, and you will be informed right away! *With this, please respect team members if you are asked to keep your pup at home due to possible symptoms, this is for the safety of all pets and to help stop the spread.

If your pup is NON-SOCIAL daysitting or boarding they are separated from the social pups completely, and that building will have little to no contact with the social pups.

This is also a good reminder to make sure your pup is updated on the Bordetella vaccine; this can help decrease or prevent kennel cough!

If you suspect your dog has kennel cough, we HIGHLY recommend they get seen by a vet, kennel cough can turn into pneumonia if untreated.

For PNP policies, your pup needs to be treated however the vet recommends and then we need a clearance call or letter from the vet and no symptoms to be present to be able to come back to daycare. If the parents suspect kennel cough at home based on symptoms, they need to stay home until symptoms are clear and then for 1 week after to make sure the pup’s symptoms don’t resurface. For any situation, if any staff member notices any symptoms at PNP while in daycare they go straight to our quarantine area and pup’s owner gets called. If a staff member notices it in the office at drop off, the pup needs to be taken back home and evaluate symptoms at home. Please remember if you have this conversation with one of our staff members to be kind, we are looking out for the well-being of all our pets here! Bordetella is a highly contagious airborne virus; therefore, outbreaks are very common in large groups of dogs and hard to contain. This is why at Paws N Pals we are so strict on our policies. For the safety of everyone pup, please make sure your pup is updated on their Bordetella vaccine and if they are showing any symptoms at all please keep them home.

Please update PNP if your dogs have symptoms so we can keep our staff and community updated!
